Tuesday, December 7th, 2010

The Winter months offer many wonderful opportunities to book a special night for your favorite person at The Appenzell Inn in Estes Park, Colorado.  In February we have two weekends bracketing Valentine Day, and one of those has Presidents Day on the 21st.  We realise that people still appreciate a bargain so we’re offering special rates for the same quality experience,- King beds, fireplace, Jacuzzi, and our indoor pool is still warm and inviting.

One of our latest guests are avid snowshoers and were very pleased with the snow conditions on the trails around Bear Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park.  It’s very common to have heavy snow in the Park and none here in town just a couple of miles away,- something to due with high mountains and Westerly winds.

A Good Time was had

Saturday, November 27th, 2010

Yes, a good time was had by all who took advantage of a last minute Owner’s Reception at The Appenzell Inn Pub, soon to be reopened as Strudels Cafe and Pub.  The weather for the Parade was pretty good considering the cold wind blowing the day before and about 40 of our guests stopped in afterwards for a lite meal and drink, compliments of the owners.

Many of our guests are staying for a few days to take advantage of the weather in Estes Park, Colorado and the opportunities for shopping and sightseeing in Rocky Mountain National Park.   Today is sunny and warmer so folks will have a great time.

With the Holidays approaching you may want to consider a short stay in Estes Park to get away from the crowds in the big malls and get a little shopping done here,- or just chill out for a day or two in a Jaccuzi suite at The Appenzell Inn.  Give us a call or book on-line.

We’d love to have you stay with us at our completely non-smoking Estes Park hotel.   Thank you for your consideration.

What’s to Do?

Thursday, November 25th, 2010

When we have days like today in Estes Park, Colorado, where it’s cold and windy, what’s a person to do?  The short and easy answer is to do whatever pleases you; that’s why you’re here in the first place.

What most folks do is take a drive through into Rocky Mountain National Park, and even though you may not want to get out of your car for very long, the scenery is spectacular and raw.  You’ll still see some wildlife like Elk, Coyotes and the occasional Big Horn Sheep.  Some folks who know how to dress for the weather do get out and take an exhilarating  hike; sometimes on snowshoes.

You can take in a movie at The Reel Theater where the prices are less than most places or rent a movie from The Appenzell Inn’s large DVD collection; it’s only a buck a movie and no interruptions.

If you need a little exercise you can take a swim in The Appenzell Inn’s indoor heated pool and then back to your room for a Jacuzzi in front of your fireplace.  There’s also a health club just up the street with more equipment than any hotel could offer on its own.

The best part of being away, however, is to spend quality time with your significant other, away from the routine of home-life.  We understand that everyone coming to the Appenzell has their own expectations and our staff is here to help you or just leave you undisturbed.

Give yourself the gift of a Colorado experience at a terrific Estes Park hotel, The Appenzell Inn.  Thank you.

Parade is this Friday

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010

The annual Catch the Glow Parade in Estes Park, Colorado is this Friday and it’s well worth the trip up the hill.  There will be other activities and shopping as well  in downtown Estes Park and if you come early or spend the night, you’ll be able to take a drive into Rocky Mountain National Park.

We still have availability this week and we’ve released a few rooms for Friday only, so give us a call at The Appenzell Inn, one of the favorite Estes Park hotels.  Thank you.

Mule Deer are Stealthy

Sunday, November 21st, 2010

Yesterday I walked up to our apartment door at The Appenzell Inn and when I looked into the trees to the side, there were six unblinking eyes looking back at me.  Those pesky Mule Deer had gotten past me again.

Mule Deer are common in Colorado and while not as numerose as Elk in this part of the state, they do about as much damage to our landscaping.  The Appenzell Inn has a 6 foot cedar fence around the entire property and a gate at the road, but when we leave the gate open during the day, they just walk right in like they had reservations.  I get a lot of exercise escorting them out the front gate.

Most people come to Estes Park, Colorado and Rocky Mountain National Park to see the wildlife and the natural beauty of the area, so we really don’t want to harass the deer, just try to get them to eat somebody elses spen trees.

Speaking of deer, the holidays are here and we still have a few rooms available for the Catch the Glow Parade in Estes Park this Friday so give us a call or book on-line,-today.  Thank you for considering our special Estes Park hotel.

Stormy but Clearing for Parade

Saturday, November 20th, 2010

We’re expecting it to be a bit stormy in Estes Park, Colorado for the next couple of days, (although that doesn’t bother us), but it’s supposed to clear up for the Catch the Glow Parade on Friday night Nov. 26.  We normally have tens of thousands of people coming up for the day and this year will be no exception.

You will be seeing many colorful floats and costumed characters for the enjoyment of kids of all ages.  Music from several groups and refreshments available from many downtown locations will add to the enjoyment of all.  And if you stay for a couple of days you will have time to experience Rocky Mountain National Park and all of it’s beauty and wildlife.

We still have some availability at The Appenzell Inn, a favorite Estes Park hotel for couples and families in nine different rooms styles.  Our indoor pool is always heated to 83 degrees and many rooms have a two person Jacuzzi in front of a fireplace.  Give us a call or book on-line and we thank you for your consideration.

Something Special

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

Astronomers tell us there are about 200 billion Galaxies each containing about 200 billion Stars and about 1 in 4 of those stars will have a planet revolving around it that may support life.  Hmmm.  I wonder what the odds are of any of those planets having a place as special as Colorado and especially Estes Park with the surrounding Rocky Mountain National Park?

Chances are, you won’t be visiting any other planets any time soon so you ought to be thinking about your chances of visiting Estes Park as many times as you can.  While you’re here, you may want to stay in one of the favorite Estes Park hotels, The Appenzell Inn.  Summer rates will be posted soon for your early reservations and we still have a few rooms left for this Thanksgiving Holiday.  Thank you.

Mother was Right

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

You were told to dress warm when going outside to play in the snow and that’s especially true when you’re in Estes Park, Colorado in the late fall and winter.  It’s cold out there and when the wind kicks up a bit, it can be darn cold.

If you’re dressed warm, however, you will experience a part of Rocky Mountain National Park that is harsh but still beautiful in its own way.  The Park is open all year, there’s still wildlife to see, and on most days the sun is out to warm you up and show off nature’s splendor.

When you’ve had enough you will come back to a freindly downtown Estes Park with plenty of restaurants and shops open for your enjoyment, and then to your favorite Estes Park hotel.  Your room at The Appenzell Inn with its king bed, fireplace and 2 person Jacuzzi tub is the perfect place to top of a perfect day in the Park.  Thank you.
