We’ve finally put floor plans and room descriptions on our on-line booking engine. The floor plans have been colored by hand and may look a bit amateurish but they are a definite improvement.

Some people have expresed a concern with security when using the booking engine. Be assured that our provider, Rezstream, assures a fully secure system in keeping with the latest industry standards. All major credit cards are now insisting that all systems of this type that handle credit card transactions have met the new security standards.

The Appenzell Inn internal reservation system, (Rezstream), is also secure and we are required to meet the latest standards which include frequent password entries and changes to insure that no one has access to your information other than authorized personnel. We are a small Estes Park hotel so the number of people with access is very small. Since we opened in 1997, we have never had a security problem with our reservation system or guest information and we maintain proper diligence to make sure it stays that way.

So don’t be hesitant to book your favorite Estes Park hotel, The Appenzell Inn, on-line. Cool breeze today and sunny.

Just like that there’s a chill in the air and there was a bit of frost on the roof this morning. (The roof can be frosty even with the temperature above freezing,-ask the weather channel people.) The daytime temps are around 70 and at night it can get down to about 40. This weekend it will warm up a bit to about 80. Perfect for hiking and fishing.

The weather should stay nice for another couple of months but it will steadily get colder so keep that in mind before traveling to your favorite Estes Park hotel, The Appenzell Inn. And remember that as the temperature goes down, so do our rates as you will see when accessing our booking engine.

Ahhh, what a beautiful evening. Think I’ll go out on the porch and watch the sun go down over the mountains. Wish you were here?

What do you call a single hotel room with a bed in it? Is it a studio or is it a one-bedroom? It seems as though most hotels as well as AAA like to call them one-bedroom units which means The Appenzell Inn is out of touch.

At The Appenzell Inn we call a single room unit a Studio, a unit with a Living Room plus a separate Bedroom is a One-Bedroom, a unit with a Living Room and two Bedrooms is a Two Bedroom unit. Because our Living Rooms also contain a sofa sleeper, we should probably call our units One, Two, and Three Bedroom types. We also call some of our Rooms, Studio Suites because they are larger one-room units with kitchenettes, eating areas and sitting areas. Technically we could call them One-Bedroom Suites, but we don’t think that would be accurate.

As a marketing strategy, I suppose it’s smart to make your rooms seem more than what they are, but our strategy is to be honest with our guests so that they are pleasantly surprised, not dissapointed when they arrive.

If you thought shopping for a terrific Estes Park hotel was going to be easy, maybe not, unless you do your homework. At The Appenzell Inn, what you see and what we describe are what you’re going to get, and if something is not quite up to snuff, we’ll do everything within reason to fix it.

Thank you for visiting this site and thank you for considering The Appenzell Inn, your Estes Park hotel.

It took a little over two hours door to door from Grand Lake to Estes Park including about 20 min. worth of stops due to road construction. The good news is, the road is mostly complete with just a few miles of repaving left on the Western side. The bad news is that the Pine Beetles really have done a number on the Western side of Rocky Mountain National Park with dead trees as far as you can see. There are pockets of green which gives us some hope that things will be coming back fairly soon.

Grand Lake seems to be holding its own, what with the beetles and the economy. There’s even a new theatre being built on the main street, which is more than I can say for Estes Park. (Just a little prod to the people in office) Grand Lake is a neat little village with a bit of an old west flavor and a few primitive looking cabins, houses and businesses.

We had a little luck fishing even though we weren’t able to spend a lot of time nor were we able to pick the optimum times. Keeping our 10 year old granddaughter from getting bored can be a challenge but so far so good.

It’s nice to come back to our home at The Appenzell Inn, refreshed and ready to take on a busy fall season. The Elk are moving on down and looking very fit and ready for the annual mating season called The Rut, which is a big attraction. For that reason alone you should book a few nights at your favorite Estes Park hotel, The Appenzell Inn.

Today we’re taking our granddaughter over to Grand Lake for a couple of nights. We’ll try some fishing, a little shopping, check out a couple of restaurants, and always be on the lookout for Moose.

While the accommodations in Grand Lake aren’t as numerous as Estes Park hotels, there are a few nice places that we can recommend as you travel from or to your destination at The Appenzell, your Estes Park hotel.

You would think in a climate where you only have a few weeks a year where you can enjoy an outdoor pool, more Estes Park hotels would have indoor pools like the one at The Appenzell Inn. Ours has 6 skyights plus windows or sliding glass doors on three sides, so there’s plenty of light and ventilation. We keep the water temperature set at 83-84 degrees which has proven to be comfortable for all but a few sissies.

There’s no better exercise than a half hour or more just playing games with the kids or swimming laps or even running in place. And it’s easy on the joints.

When deciding on which Estes Park hotel to stay at this time, don’t forget to see if they have a pool for your use. No? Then it’s time to make The Appenzell Inn your Estes Park hotel for having a good time and exercise too.
